Call for SWHPN Members: Apply to Join a SWHPN Committee or the SWHPN Board of Directors

The Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network (SWHPN) is currently seeking submissions from members that may be interested in serving on one of our various Committees, or as a member of the Board of Directors. Descriptions of each committee are listed below. The Committees generally meet once per month, with time commitment varying depending on specific projects/time of year. Board members meet an additional six times per year to set strategic goals and initiatives for the organization. Requirements include being a SWHPN member in good standing, and general availability to attend regular meetings.

2020 SWHPN Committees

Conference Committee: This committee develops the theme for the annual conference, reviews abstracts, develops pre-conference and plenary sessions, reaches out to sponsors and exhibitors, reviews award nominations, and generally oversees conference planning.

Education Committee: This committee's focus is on developing webinars, content, and other resources for membership education and professional development, as well as the development of study guides and webinars for the APHSW-C certification program.

Governance Committee: This committee's focus is on the organizational structure of the organization, including developing a board manual, board guidelines, and staffing initiatives.

Membership Committee: This committee's focus is on developing and implementing outreach strategies to grow and retain SWHPN members.

Strategic Engagement Committee: This committee's focus is on building more and stronger partnerships with external organizations, and developing strategic communications that will help advance the field of hospice and palliative social work.

Student Committee: This committee's focus is on developing resources and opportunities for students and/or individuals who are new to the hospice and palliative care social work field.
